Antigonish Tourism Association Welcomes Lynne DeLorey as Director of Tourism

The Antigonish Tourism Association (ATA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Lynne DeLorey as its first Director of Tourism, marking an important milestone in the organization’s continued growth and commitment to strengthening and expanding tourism in the Antigonish region.

According to ATA President Paul Curry, “This is an important step forward for the organization and for tourism in our area. Tourism operators in our community are excited about this next phase, which will help us better showcase our existing strengths and grow tourism overall.

Incorporated in September 2021, the Antigonish Tourism Association represents a collective of tourism-focused businesses working together to promote Antigonish as a welcoming, vibrant, and desirable destination. The addition of a Director of Tourism supports ATA’s mandate to enhance regional visibility, improve visitor services, strengthen collaboration, and support local tourism operators through coordinated marketing and visitor-focused initiatives.

DeLorey brings extensive experience in tourism, hospitality, entrepreneurship, and high-level administration to the role. She spent eight years as owner of the Antigonish Evergreen Inn, developing a strong foundation in hospitality operations, visitor services, business management, and guest experience. She also served for five years as Assistant to the President at St. Francis Xavier University, supporting senior leadership and gaining experience in high-level administration and organizational operations.

For the past 15 years, DeLorey has also managed the Antigonish Visitor Information Centre and has served on several tourism boards, including Coastal Nova Scotia (DEANS), where she is a past President. She has also served as Coordinator of the Antigonish Jazz Festival for the past four years, overseeing a community-driven, multi-venue festival with strong local and regional participation.

In her role as Director of Tourism, DeLorey will focus on advancing ATA’s mandate by:

  • Strengthening coordinated marketing efforts and brand awareness
  • Supporting member businesses in promoting local services and attractions
  • Building partnerships with local organizations, events, and tourism operators
  • Enhancing visitor engagement through accessible, accurate, and engaging information
  • Encouraging increased visitation and extended stays throughout the year

I have long been passionate about promoting our region and am excited to work closely with tourism operators and community partners to position Antigonish as a welcoming, year-round destination that supports economic growth and a strong, vibrant community,” said DeLorey.

Through partnership, innovation, and community leadership, the Antigonish Tourism Association remains committed to building a sustainable and successful future for tourism in Antigonish, positioning the region as a year-round destination that celebrates its culture, hospitality, and unique experiences.
