The Charles V. Keating Centre, also known as the KMC, is a versatile arena and conference center located on the campus of St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada. It was constructed in 2001 as part of St. Francis Xavier’s campus renewal program and is named after Canadian businessman Charles Keating. The building features two large ice surfaces, and the primary surface can be converted into a large open area for concerts and graduations. The main stadium can accommodate 1,501 people, and the entire building can hold over 2,207 people with room to spare.
The KMC is the home arena of the St. Francis Xavier X-Men and X-Women hockey teams, which compete in the AUS conference of Canadian Interuniversity Sport. The venue hosted the 2006 CIS Women’s Ice Hockey Championships. During the off-season, the primary arena is converted into a fully functional conference facility that can host concerts, dinners, special events, and sporting events. With two walkways leading into the primary arena and 23,100 square feet of space, the two arenas offer over 40,000 square feet of total floor space and have hosted numerous trade shows and major events in the spring and summer months.
